He requested everyone to join hands to help the sub-committee of Ganesh headed by Mrs.Kulsum Reddy and to involve the NGOs like APNA WATAN, COVA, Nature Clubs of various schools and Hum Sub Hindustani etc., to conduct awareness campaign much in advance before the festival. In this connection he suggested to hold a meeting with the NGOs to chalk out a plan

He also informed that the Heritage Cell Sub-Committee met just before the monthly meeting at “Samatha”. and informed the issues discussed and decision taken. The sub-committee felt that the Private developer is violating HUDA Rules and Government must involve itself to protect Heritage Buildings and Heritage precincts of such stature. Hence, it was decided to raise this issue with Heritage Conservation Committee by sending a letter. Mrs.Sangamitra Malik felt that apart from the violation which has already taken place in regards to the Heritage building of Old Gandhi Medical College there is also a violation of MCH Rules. Heritage Cell felt that no construction of structure should be in the Old Gandhi Medical College premises and to keep it as an open space.

Further he informed the members about MCH’s claim that they are widening the roads according to the Heritage Conservation Committee-2002 Sanctions. Heritage Cell wants to appeal to Heritage Conservation Committee to inspect Laad Bazar again to check whether the widening is happening as per Heritage Conservation Committee-2002 Sanctions. Otherwise Heritage Cell felt that it has to be dealt with by filing a PIL. Heritage Cell also felt that lot of Heritage Buildings are under threat at Metti-Ka-Shehar Road.

Mr.Vedakumar also informed the members that INTACH is going to undertake 2 projects like listing of ADDITIONAL HERITAGE BUILDINGS in Heritage Urban Agglomeration and prepare a HERITAGE MAP in HUDA area for which Mr.M.Vedakumar has been assigned the responsibility to prepare a project proposal and to execute it. After discussing on the matter it was felt that the existing MMTS service, can be further, upgraded and increased and also can be extended to the uncovered areas as per phase II of the original plan. Apart from this there should be a common ticket for MMTS and RTC. The bus service from the MMTS stations to other locations should be improved. Separate bus-parking bays are to be provided. Our idea of proposing BRTS, would be a better and cheaper alternate to MRTS.
